Saint Christopher Medallion Necklace
This Saint Christopher medallion necklace features a relaxed surfer engraved on the reverse side, giving it a unique and distinctive character. Paired with a simple, slightly chunky chain, it can also be worn by men much like a classic coin necklace.
The Story of Saint Christopher
According to legend, Saint Christopher was originally a Roman man named Reprobus. After converting to Christianity, he devoted himself to serving Jesus Christ.
He visited a hermit and asked how he could grow closer to Christ. The hermit told him that serving others was the key, and suggested that he help travelers cross a dangerous river.
From then on, he selflessly carried people across the river. One day, a small boy asked to be carried across. As Christopher made his way through the water, the child became astonishingly heavy. Surprised, he asked the boy who he was.
The child revealed that he was Jesus Christ.
After they reached the other side, Jesus blessed Reprobus and told him to call himself Christopher, meaning “the bearer of Christ.” Jesus also instructed him to place his staff into the ground, where it immediately sprouted leaves and grew into a great tree. Many who witnessed this miracle converted to Christianity.
Later, when news of this spread to the local king, Christopher was arrested, tortured, and beheaded.
Saint Christopher is now known as the patron saint of travelers, surfers, vehicles, drivers, pilots, floods, storms, and plague protection.
His feast day is July 25.
